Dog Collars serve multiple functions, and are an important piece of your pets wardrobe. Properly sizing your dog's collar is simple, and can be attained by the basic rule; after putting your dog's collar on you should be able to slip your index and middle finger under the collar and it should be snug. Many of our customers try to resist this theory but in fact it is the best and most accurate way to size your dogs collar. If your dog's collar is too loose it can easily slip over his/her head and then we have a dog who has escaped into traffic or becomes lost.
Another important function of the collar is the dog tags themselves. It is imperative that you have a dog tag with your dog's name and a phone number (preferably your cell number) so if your dog is lost you can help the person who found your dog find his/her way home.
Last, but definately not least, a dogs collar is a fashion statement. Many of our costumers pick out really cool designs based on their personality, as well as their dogs. In some cases the choice comes down to the relationship the dog has with it's owner.

The care and maintenance of the dog collar: we recommend that your dogs collar be changed annually for hygiene and health reasons. Imagine your dog during the course of a year, encountering other dogs, fleas, playing in the grass and so on. Your dog collar is picking up the parasites, and germs through out the year. We strongly suggest you wash your dog collar every 4 to 6 weeks. If you do not have a front loader washing machine, and have an agitator, using a lingerie bag is encouraged.
Hand washing your dog collar and leash is also acceptable. Hang dry the collar and leashes is recommended. You do not need to remove your dog tags for this process.
Remember your dogs collar is an important part of your life together. It not only speaks to it's fashion but to the safe return of your pet, should they become lost. Dog Tags are a MUST, if your dog has allergies, purchase an additional tag that states the nature of your dogs needs.
